I am London based web developer, specialising in front-end web techologies and strategic technical solutions and support. I currently work as a Mobile Lead within the Customer Solutions & Analytics team at Google. I help with the improvement in site load speed, UX and making the most of Google’s next generation mobile technologies. Outside of work I am an avid rugby player, having played since the age of 5 I have picked up multiple honours such as Kent 1st XV, Under 18's and Unders 16's selection and captain of my school's 1st XV. I also enjoy music, both listening and playing multiple instruments, along with travelling and keeping fit.
I am currently a Digital Experience Lead within the Customer Solutions & Analytics team at Google. Using consulting and relationship-building skills, I provide a Google-specialised service to help clients to improve their digital (web and app) platforms. I assist with the improvement in site load speed, on-page UX and making the most of Google’s next generation mobile technologies such as Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and new browser APIs that simplify credentials, login, payments (GPay) and media playback.
As Manager of the new Product Support team (Support & Sales Engineering) at Sharethrough, I lead a team based out of New York, San Francisco, Atlanta & London. While still continuing the technical consultation and training for US & UK/EU publishers, I lead new projects such as anti-fraud procedures and beta testing new features for their clients. Alongside this, I still operated as a link between their client's requests and requirements, and the Product & Engineering teams to help with the planning and prioritisation of tasks and projects.
I transitioned into a Senior Sales Engineer at Sharethrough acting as the Pre & Post Sales go-to technical resource for our UK & European based clients. I was responsible for creating bespoke technical solutions around our client's technical infrastructures and strategic/operational requirements. My day-to-day tasks involved the planning, execution, quality and delivery of the technical solutions, which are heavily self-managed, whilst reporting back and communicating with our San Francisco & New York based offices. I was assigned to lead and maintain a strong technical relationship and support for publisher's such as Sky, CNN, The Telegraph & Time Inc UK.
I began working at Sharethrough as an Integation Engineer, where I managed technical onboarding of new publishers with visual presentation, troubleshooted integration issues on an ongoing basis with advertisers & publishers and developed customer facing integration documentation and initial technical support.
I was previously employed as a UI Developer within the digital department at Immediate Media. This role involved operating on the publishing, community and commerce platforms that the company deal with. It was my responsibility to be produce high quality solutions when transforming designs into reality, creating user interfaces and ensuring a high standard of cross-browser and multi-device compatibility have been taken into consideration. Some of the clients that I dealt with on a daily basis are Radio Times, Top Gear and BBC Good Food.
I was also previously employed within the in-house design & digital team at Ministry Of Sound, who are responsible for websites such as Hed Kandi, Global Underground and Dance Nation. My role demands and mixture of creative graphic and user experience design, and the skill to transform and develop design concepts into fully functioning systems, using the latest technologies available. I specialised in mobile development, providing mobile-specific CSS and JQuery that renders the website(s) into a form that is more suitable and user-friendly for mobile users. I also incorporated several social networking platforms within my work; promoting campaigns, advertising club nights and developing pages that provide users with the latest information.
After graduating from university, I began working for FP Creative, a design agency based in London. As a front-end web developer, my main roles included transforming website designs into fully functioning websites, using W3C compliant XHTML and CSS, while also using dynamic languages such as JQuery for animations and effects. I also delved into backend development, inserting the coded websites into content management systems such as Drupal, enabling the clients to be in full control of their website. While working here I gained experience working with large-scale clients such as Jaguar, Land Rover and Santander.
As part of a placement year, completed between my second and third year at university, I worked for Redwire Design. The placement enabled me to gain first-hand work experience in not just web development, but working within a real development team, dealing with the requests and requirements of real clients. My main role as a junior web developer was to use my front-end development skills to transform a design into a W3C compliant website, which I would then insert into the in-house built content management system, giving the client full control over their website.
I have been developing websites and online solutions for nearly 15 years, starting by building Yahoo! Geocities pages for friends, onto gaining a First Class degree in BSc Web Design through to following a career path in London within the industry. I specialise in front-end development, but also have a solid understanding of back-end technologies in order to bridge the gap between presentation and the engine under the hood.
Although my background is development, I have a keen interest in UX, UCD, UI and design. I am comfortable working with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Fireworks etc), and have had experience with design within my university and working as a designer/developer hybrid in previous job roles.
Along with my development and design skills, I am very comfortable working within a team, and feel my client facing skills enable me to communicate efficiently and effectively. I consistently use communication platforms such as Google Mail, Slack and Telegram, and have in-depth experience with ticketing/workflow platforms such as JIRA, ZenDesk & GitHub/Source Control.
